The New Olympian Press Edited by Maurice Girodias. In 1970, two years after its American rebirth, Olympia Press gave proof of first Reader testified to the foresight of Paris's Olympia Press and its founder, Maurice Girodias, who was the first to publish Lolita, Story of O, Naked Lunch, and other now-classic erotic works. Featuring writers less famous yet no less evocative in their depictions of sensual pleasure, The New Olympia Reader captures the essence of the 1960s, with contributions by Diane di Prima, who writes of her sexual encounters with Jack Kerouac; poet Clarence Major; William Burroughs III (son of the Naked Lunch author); Frank Newman, author of Barbara, one of Olympia Press America's best sellers; and Tor Kung, regarded as one of the most erotically imaginative writers of his time. This edition also includes a new foreword (and two erotic selections) by Barry N. Malzberg, who helped edit the book and describes what it was like to work with Girodias.

Even Girodias himself is represented by a lively afterword describing episodes in his struggle against censorship.
