Tough Ones, The Unisex T-shirt.
When I a youn'in browsing the "prevues of coming attractions" section of Grindhouse Releasing's Blu-ray of "The Big Gundown" - one of THE BEST Spaghetti Westerns EVER, and the film that cemented my fandom of Tomas Milian - I came across the trailer for this movie, and was elated to discover that it too starred our man Tomas in a very different, but no less engaging, role. When Grindhouse finally got around to putting the film out on Blu-ray, it was well worth the wait. Most fans know director Umberto Lenzi through his cannibal movies, but I know him principally through his gialli and poliziotteschi - all of the films of his I've seen range from decent to excellent (particularly "Almost Human"), but this one is pure balls-to-the-wall FUN.
Much of the plot, such as it is, is typical, sweaty cop movie stuff - the loose cannon fuzz getting chewed out by his bosses and girlfriend for his relentless pursuit of brutal justice, stock footage-embelished car chases, drugs, shootouts, the works. But what makes it all so fresh is the authenticity of the tense interplay between Maurizio Merli's tough-as-nails Inspector Leonardo Tanzi and Milian's hilariously uncouth hunchbacked triggerman Vincenzo Moretto - such was their chemistry that Milian literally kicked the crud out of Merli during the climax, which forced Lenzi to film their scenes in his later film "The Cynic, the Rat and the Fist" separately from each other, even when they were ostensibly interacting with one another.
